Zu dem so neugeschaffenen Präsens ἀείδω ferner ἀοιδός usw. Aber nach ἀλκή, ἀλαλκεῖν (neben ἀλέξω) zu schließen, hätte man neben αὐδή einen Aorist *ἀϝαυδεῖν erwartet. — Die Zerlegung in eine Wurzel αὐ- (s. ἄβα) mit zwei Erweiterungen: ηι (> ει oder η) und δ: ἀϝείδ-ω, ἀϝη-δών neben αὐδ-ή (Specht KZ 59, 119ff., Ursprung 281) ist sehr künstlich.
