A stay beside or near, stand by, οὐδέ τις αὐτῷ Ἀργείων παρέμεινε Il.11.402, cf. 15.400 ; παράμεινον τὸν βίον ἡμῖν Ar.Pax 1108 (hex.), cf. Pl.Ap.39e, al. ; of slaves, remain, stay, opp. δραπετεύω, ἀποδιδράσκω, Id.Men. 97d, X.Oec.3.4 ; in Law, of slaves whose manumission was deferred, SIG1208 (Thespiae, ii B.
