A.; τὸ μὲν μέγιστον αἰσχυνόμενος, Xen. An. 1, 3, 10. 5, 6, 29 Cyr. 3, 1, 1 u. öfter, was die Hauptsache betrifft; τὸ δὲ μέγιστον· οἷς γὰρ κ. τ. λ., Isocr. 3, 21 (vgl. γάρ); καὶ τὸ μέγιστον, u. was das wichtigste ist, Thuc. 4, 70. So auch noch Sp., wie Luc. D. D. 20, 13 Nigr. 2. – Adverbialisch, βοῶντα μέγιστον Plat. Euthyd. 300 b, ὡς μέγιστα καὶ ὡς κάλλιστα Conv. 198 e; Eur. verbindet es auch mit einem superl., μέγιστον ἔχθιστος, Med. 1320.
