Relieve from, free from: P. and V. ἀφιέναι (τινά τινος), ἀπαλλάσσειν (τινά τινος), ἀπολύειν (τινά τινος) (Eur., Or. 1236), V. κουφίζειν (τινά τινος); see deliver. Relieve from labour: V. μόχθου ἐπικουφίζειν. Relieve from troubles: V. ἀποκουφίζειν κακῶν. May the gods relieve you of your sickness: V. καί σε δαίμονες νόσου μεταστήσειαν (Soph., Phil. 462).
