Etymology: OPers. Haxāmaniš. - Gr. -αι- in Ἀχαι-μένης for -ā- in Haxā-maniš probably after Ταλαι-μένης, Πυλαι-μένης etc. (Schwyzer 448). Jacobsohn KZ 54, 261f. explains -αι- from the stem haxāi- = Skt. sakhāy-, which is cognate with Lat. soci-us; cf. Kretschmer Glotta 18, 226. - The Persian words prob. means having the mind (-man-) of a friend.
