   A manly, heroic, θυμός Il.2.276, 12.300; κραδίη καὶ θυμὸς ἀ. 9.635, etc.; βίῃ καὶ ἀγήνορι θυμῷ εἴξας, of a lion, 24.42: freq. with collat. notion of headstrong, arrogant, of Achilles, 9.699; Thersites, 2.276; the suitors, Od.1.106,144, al.; the Titans, Hes.Th.641, cf.
