   A wind-pipe, ἡ ἀ. μόλις ἀναπνεούσῃ ὑπεσύριζε Hp.Epid.7.25, cf.39, Pl.Ti.70d, Arist.HA493a8, de An.420b29; ἡτραχεῖα ἀ. (cf. 11) Timoth. ap. Meno.Iatr.8.29, v. l. in Dsc.2.50, Luc.Hist. Conscr.7, S.E.M.9.178, etc.: in pl., bronchial tubes, ἆσθμα . . περὶ στήθεα καὶ ἀρτηρίας Hp.Epid.7.12 (vulg. but prob. l. -ίην, = trachea), cf. Pl.Ti.78c; πλεύμονος ἀρτηρίαι S.Tr.1054.    II artery, as distinct from a vein, αἱ φλεβῶν καὶ ἀρτηριῶν κοινωνίαι Hp.Art.45, cf. 69; τὰς δὲ φλέβας καὶ τὰς ἀ. συνάπτειν εἰς ἀλλήλας . . τῇ αἰσθήσει φανερὸν εἶναι Arist.Spir.484a1; ἀ. λεῖαι (cf.
