[ᾰ], ωνος, ὁ, ἡ, poet. for χαροπός, Μήνης παῖδα χάρωνα, of the Nemean lion, Euph.84.4; so as Subst. (said to be Maced.),
A χάρωνος ὠμηστοῦ δορά Lyc.455, cf. Hsch., etc.; also of the eagle, Lyc.260; of the Cyclops, Id.660. II as pr. n., Charon, the ferryman of the Styx, E.Alc.254 (lyr.), 361, al.; voc. ὦ Χάρον Cratin.324c (v.l. Χάρων); but χαῖρ' ὦ Χάρων (with a pun) Ar.Ra.184.
