εῖα, ύ: straight; τέτραπτο πρὸς ἰθύ οἱ, ‘straight opposite him,’ Il. 14.403; usually metaph., straight, right, just, Il. 23.580; sup., ἰθύντατα, most fairly, Il. 18.508.—As adv., ἶθύς, ιθύ, straight at, straight for, τινός, Il. 5.849; also with prepositions, and abs., Il. 20.99, Od. 3.10 ; ἶθὺς φέρειν, μάχεσθαι, φρονεῖν, ‘turn the mind straight on,’ ‘be bent on battle,’ Il. 13.135, cf. Il. 11.95.
