A young deer, pricket, between νεβρός and ἔλαφος (so Ar.Byz. ap. Eust.711.37, cf. Miller Mélanges de litt.gr.p.431), Il.10.361, Call.Dian.112, A.R.3.879, Herodic. ap. Ath.5.222a, Ael.NA14.14:—also κεμμάς (q.v.), and in Hsch. κεμφάς, (Cf. Skt. śáma-'hornless', Lith. šmúlas 'hornless', OE. hind.)
