   A pipette, = ὑδράρπαξ, a small vessel with one or more perforations below and an air-vent above, for transferring small quantities of liquid, Emp.100.9, Arist.Ph.213a27, Pr. 914b9, al., Hero Spir.2.27 (described in 1.7), Simp.in Cael.524.19, in Ph.647.26.    II water-clock, a water-butt with a narrow orifice underneath, through which the water trickled slowly, for measuring periods of time, used to time speeches in the law-courts, Ar.V.93, 857, Arist.Ath.67.2, etc.; πρὸς κλεψύδρας ἀγωνίζεσθαι Id.Po.1451a8; τὴν ὀπὴν βῦσον τῆς κλεψύδρης Herod.2.43; for measuring military watches, Aen.Tact.22.24; for astronomical measurements, Procl.
