Schwyzer 335, Specht KZ 66, 5), that <b class="b3">κίνδυνος</b> is an old expression of the game of dices with assimilation for <b class="b3">*κύν-δυ-νος</b>, from <b class="b3">κύων</b> as designation of an unsuccesful throw (as Skt. <b class="b2">śvan-</b>, Lat.
