German (Pape)

[Seite 814] zweisylbige Nebenform von τὸ πῦρ, das Feuer, wird aus »Simonides« angeführt von Herodian. Περὶ μον. λέξ. p. 12, 18. S. Bergk Poet. Lyr. Gr. ed. 1 Simonid. Amorgin. frgmt. 29, ed. 2 Simonid. Cei frgmt. 59. Aus dieser Form πύϊρ scheint die Form πῦρ durch Contraction entstanden zu sein, wie πάϊς παῖς' φάος φῶς.

French (Bailly abrégé)
