   A in the midst: hence,    I as Adv.,    1 of Place, betwixt, between, once in Hom., Il.1.156, cf. h.Merc.159, etc.: with Art., τὸ μ. Hdt.2.8, Ar.Av.551; ἐν τούτῳ μ. Th.4.25; νεάτης τε καὶ ὑπάτης καὶ μέσης καὶ εἰ ἄλλα ἄττα μ. τυγχάνει ὄντα Pl.R.443d; αὐχένα μ. τιθέντες Id.Ti.69e: metaph., φίλος ἢ ἐχθρὸς ἢ μ.
