(ἀγείρω): (1) assembly of the people or army, distinguished from the βουλή or council of the chiefs. ἀγορὴν ποιεῖσθαι, τίθεσθαι, καθίζειν, ἀγορήνδε καλεῖν (through the heralds), ἐς δ' ἀγορὴν ἀγέροντο, etc.—(2) public speech, discussion.—(3) place of meeting, market, pl. Od. 8.16. As designation of time, ἐπὶ δόρπον ἀνὴρ ἀγορῆθεν ἀνέστη, Od. 12.439.
