# Eumelus (Gadeirus), the younger twin brother of Atlas in Plato's myth of Atlantis, and the son of Poseidon and Cleito, daughter of the autochthon Evenor and Leucippe. His other brothers were: Ampheres and Evaemon, Mneseus and Autochthon, Elasippus and Mestor, and lastly, Azaes and Diaprepes. Eumelus, along with his nine siblings, became the heads of ten royal houses, each ruling a tenth portion of the island, according to a partition made by Poseidon himself, but all subject to the supreme dynasty of Atlas who was the eldest of the ten.
# Eumelus, son of Merops and father of Byssa, Meropis and Agron. The family offended Hermes and were transformed into birds.
# Eumelus, companion of Triptolemus. He had a son Antheias who tried to ride the chariot of Triptolemus but fell off and died. Eumelus was the first to settle in the land of Patrae in Achaea and founded Antheia in memory of his son.

Eumelus was also one of the Greeks in the Trojan Horse.

|wkeltx=Ο Εύμηλος ([[Εὔμηλος]]) ήταν αυτόχθων βασιλιάς μικρού (ολιγάριθμου) λαού της αρχαιότητας, των Αιγειαλειών της Αχαΐας. Σύμφωνα με τον Θωμόπουλο και τον Κόντογλου το όνομα του φανερώνει τον αρχηγό ποιμένων, που οδηγούν καλά πρόβατα (εὑ + μήλα (πρόβατα), "πολύμηλος, αυτός που έχει πολλά πρόβατα"). Στην εποχή του Εύμηλου ήρθε και στην περιοχή ο Τριπτόλεμος ο οποίος γύριζε όλη την Ελλάδα και μάθαινε στους ανθρώπους να καλλιεργούν στάρι. Ο ίδιος είχε διδαχθεί από την θεά Δήμητρα. Ο Τριπτόλεμος ήρθε καβάλα σε ένα άρμα που το έσερναν φτερωτοί δράκοντες. Αφού πρώτα έλεγξε αν ήταν γόνιμο το έδαφος, δίδαξε τον Εύμηλο τη σπορά του σταριού, βοήθησε τον Εύμηλο να χτίσει μια πόλη για να εγκατασταθεί με τον λαό του. Έτσι κτίστηκε η Αρόη που πήρε το όνομα της από την Άροση (όργωμα) της γης. Κάποιο βράδυ που κοιμόταν ο Τριπτόλεμος, ο Ανθείας, γιος του Εύμηλου, καβάλησε το άρμα για να σπείρει, αλλά δεν τα κατάφερε να συγκρατήσει τους δράκοντες οι οποίοι τον έριξαν από ψηλά στην γη και σκοτώθηκε. Στο μέρος που έπεσε ο Εύμηλος ίδρυσε μια δεύτερη πόλη, δίπλα στην Αρόη, και την ονόμασε Άνθεια προς τιμή του γιου του. Ανάμεσα στις δύο πόλεις χτίστηκε αργότερα η Μεσσάτις. Αυτές τις τρεις πόλεις ένωσε μετά από χρόνια ο Πατρεύς και ίδρυσε την Πάτρα.
