Ὀρχομένιος, <span class="bibl">Hp.<span class="title">Ulc.</span>7</span>, <span class="bibl">Hdt.9.16</span>, <span class="title">SIG</span> 519.7 (Aegium, iii B. C.), <span class="bibl">Str.9.2.40</span> :—hence Ὀρχομενίζω, <span class="sense">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<span class="bld">A</span> [[side with the Orchomenians]], <span class="bibl">Hellanic.81</span> J. (but perh. not Hellanic.).—The old Boeot. form was Ἐρχ-, and this is found in Inscrr. and on coins to the time of Alexander, <span class="title">SIG</span>60 (v B. C.), <span class="title">IG</span>7.3166, al., <b class="b2">BMus.Cat.Coins Central Greece</b> p.54: the Arcadian Orchomenians are similarly Ἐρχομένιοι <span class="title">SIG</span>31.12 (Delph., v B. C.), Ἐρχομίνιοι <span class="title">IG</span>5(2).343 (Orchom. Arc., iv B. C.).</span>
