Purify oneself: P. καθαίρεσθαι (mid.), ἀφοσιοῦσθαι (mid.). Be purified: P. and V. ἁγνεύειν, V. ἁγνίζεσθαι. We have long been purified of this (sin): V. πάλαι . . . ταῦτʼ ἀφιερώμεθα (Aesch., Eum. 451).
