Paul is endeavoring to [[show]] [[that]] the [[passage]] he has [[just]] [[before]] quoted, τά κατώτερα τῆς γῆς denotes, the [[lower]] parts of the [[universe]], [[which]] the [[earth]] constitutes — τῆς γῆς [[being]] a genitive of apposition; cf.
