Conquer: P. and V. νικᾶν, κρατεῖν (acc. or gen.), χειροῦσθαι, Ar. and P. ἐπικρατεῖν (gen.), περιγίγνεσθαι (gen.), P. περιεῖναι (gen.), V. ὑπερβάλλεσθαι; see conquer.
Be vanquished: P. and V. ἡσσᾶσθαι, νικᾶσθαι, κρατεῖσθαι.
The vanquished: use P. and V. οἱ ἥσσονες.
