pf. ὑφήγημαι (v. infr.):—
A go just before, guide, lead, τινι E.El. 664, Pl.Euthd.278c, etc.: abs., go first, lead the way, ὑφηγοῦ S.El. 1502, cf.Th.1.78, Pl.Phd.82d; τοῦτο εὐθὺς ὑφήγηται this is the guiding principle, Arist.Pol.1260a4; κατὰ τὸν ὑφηγημένον τρόπον according to the normal plan, Id.EN1108a3, Pol.1256a2; κατὰ τὴν ὑ. μέθοδον ib. 1252a17 (it is not necessary to regard these usages as pass.). II c. acc. cogn., ὑ. τὴν ὁδόν show the way, Plu.Pomp.76, etc.; ὑ. ταῦτα gave these instructions, Lys.33.3:—Pass., τὰ δι' ἡμῶν ὑφηγούμενα the precepts laid down by us, Ael.Tact.Prooem. 6:—but, 2 c. acc. rei, show the way to, instruct in, ἀγαθά X.Cyr.8.7.15; χρήματα Id.Ages.1.19; τύπους Pl.R.403e; ὑ. γόνον indicate or describe it, D.H. 1.78, cf. Ph.1.14; τινί τι Plu.2.147c, D.L.8.60; also τινί τινος Plu. 2.582b. III lead to a thing, indicate that it is so, A.Eu. 192.
