(A), ον, also α, ον freq. in Att.: I of persons, unworthy, not deemed or held worthy; ἀνάξιον σοῦ too good for thee, S.Ph.1009: also c. inf., ἀ. γὰρ πᾶσίν ἐστε δυστυχεῖν undeserving in the eyes of all to suffer, S.OC1446; νικᾶν Pl.Prt.356a. 2 abs., worthless, despicable, Hdt.7.9, S.Ph.439, etc.; ἁπερεί τις ἔποικος ἀναξία Id.El. 189 (lyr.).
