A reckless, presumptuous, wicked, of men, ἀνέρα . . ἀ. ὀβριμοεργόν Il.22.418; ἀ. ἀνδρὶ ἔοικας Od.8.166, etc.; so in Hdt., ἄνδρα ἀνόσιόν τε καὶ ἀ. 8.109; ἀνὴρ δεινὸς καὶ ἀ. 9.116, cf. Him.Ecl.13.28, al. 2 of men's acts, words, etc., Τρωσὶν τῶν μένος αἰὲν ἀ. Il.13.634; λίην γὰρ ἀ. ὕβριν ἔχουσιν Od.16.86; ἄνδρες δραῖσιν ἀτάσθαλα Alc.Supp.27.11; λέγειν βάρβαρά τε καὶ ἀ. Hdt.7.35; ἔρδειν πολλὰ καὶ ἀ.
