A tenure of land in a country or district by a person not belonging to it, X.HG5.2.19 (pl.); the right of holding such property, freq. granted as a privilege or reward to foreigners, ἔγκτασιν γᾶς καὶ οἰκιᾶν Decr.Byz. ap.
