   A burnt, red-hot, καυτὸν μοχλόν E.Cyc.633 (Scal.for καὶ τὸν): καυστόν, τό, burnt-offering for the dead, Phot.; so καυτόν Hsch.; whole burnt-offering, ἄγοντι τὸμ βοῦν καὶ τὸγ καυτόν SIG1025.31 (Cos); ἀρὴν καυτός ib.1027.9 (ibid.).    2 capable of being burnt, opp.ἄκαυστος, Arist.Mete.387a17, al.; cf. καυστικός: Comp. -ότερος Thphr.Ign.72.
