A of no account, worthless, esp. with regard to strength or courage, in Hom. always of persons, δειλὸς καὶ οὐ. Il.1.293; βέλος ἀνδρὸς ἀνάλκιδος, οὐτιδανοῖο 11.390; ἄφρων . . καὶ οὐ. Od. 8.209; ὀλίγος τε καὶ οὐ. καὶ ἄκικυς 9.515; οὐτιδανὸς βίην Opp.H.2.144. II Act., reckless, γᾶς δόσις οὐτιδανοῖς ἐν ῥοθίοις φορεῖται, of a surging crowd, A.Th.361 (lyr.). (Prob. suffix -ανός, and Οὔτιδ, earlier form of οὔτι 'nothing', cf. Lat. quid, Skt. cid.)
