The <b class="b3">η-</b>enlargement in <b class="b3">μελ-ή-σω</b> (Schwyzer 782 f., Chantraine 1, 446) conquered in time the whole verbal system: <b class="b3">μελῆ-σαι</b>, <b class="b3">-θῆναι</b>, <b class="b3">μεμέλη-κε</b>, <b class="b3">-μαι</b>. -- No convincing etymology.
