Perh. cross of [[εἶθαρ]] and <b class="b3">ἰθύς</b> (s. vv.) with assimilation <b class="b3">ει</b> : <b class="b3">υ</b> > <b class="b3">ευ</b> : <b class="b3">υ</b> (Schwyzer 256); <b class="b3">εὐρύς</b> is semantically farther.
