[[ἔλυμος]] and the many plant-names in <b class="b3">-αμος</b>, <b class="b3">-αμον</b>, e.g. [[κύαμος]], [[βάλσαμον]], which are most loans without etymology. Hypotheses by Groselj Živa Ant. 4, 175 (to [[σκόλλυς]]). -- The resembling <b class="b3">σκόλυβος ὁ ἐσθιόμενος βολβός</b> H. is influenced by [[βολβός]] [?] and other plant-names in <b class="b3">-βος</b> (after Specht Ursprung 267 old variation [[μ]] σκόλυμος [[β]]; to be rejected). -- The variation [[β]]/[[μ]] is a well known Pre-Greek phenomenon (there is no reason to explain the fact away).
