Schr. 2, 1103) stands the <b class="b2">u-</b>stem <b class="b3">*θαμύς</b> ([[τάχα]] : [[ταχύς]]) in [[θαμέες]] pl. [[close-set]], [[crowded]], f. [[θαμειαί]] (Hom.; accent, Schwyzer 385); cf. also <b class="b3">Θαμυ-κλῆς</b> PN (Bechtel Hist. Personennamen 197). Comp. <b class="b3">θαμύντεραι πυκνότεραι</b> H. (cf. [[ἰθύντατα]]). Here also [[θάμυρις]] H., prob. after [[πανήγυρις]], with which H. glosses it; also as PN (Β 595, inscr.); cf. Bechtel Namenst. 25f.; further <b class="b3">ὁδοὺς θαμυρούς τὰς λεωφόρους</b>; <b class="b3">θαμυρίζει ἁθροίζει</b>, [[συνάγει]] H.; also intr. (BCH 50, 401, Thespiae). - Denomin. of [[θαμά]]: [[θαμίζω]] [[come frquently]] (Il.; cf. Schwyzer 736). Beside <b class="b3">θημ-ών</b>, <b class="b3">θωμ-ός</b> (s. v.) one assumed <b class="b3">θαμ-ά</b> to be a reduced grade, which is impossible (from <b class="b3">θη-</b> in <b class="b3">τί-θη-μι</b>, but this had <b class="b3">θε-</b>, as in [[θέμεθλα]], [[θέμις]]).
