As iterative-intensive deverbative (after Zupitza KZ 40, 251 w. n. rather denominative) <b class="b3">κο(Ϝ)έω</b> (beside which <b class="b3">κο(Ϝ)άω</b>; Schwyzer 717ff.) identical with Lat. [[caveō]], [[cavēre]] (< <b class="b2">*covēre</b>) [[beware]]. A zero-grade primary formation is seen in Skt. <b class="b2">ā-kúvate</b> [[have in view]]. Also in [[ἀκεύει]] (= [[ἀκέϜει]]?) [[τηρεῖ]] H. a cognate primary (full grade) verb has been assumed. (Unclear however [[ἔκομεν]]; s. Schwyzer 721 n. 10 a. 740). To these verbs several verbal nouns are found, e. g. Skt.. <b class="b2">kaví-</b> m. [[seeer]], [[poet]], [[wise man]]. - Beside IE. <b class="b2">keu-</b> there was <b class="b2">skeu-</b>, s. [[θυοσκόος]]. Cf. also [[ἀκούω]] and [[κῦδος]].
