A prevail over, c. gen. pers., κατακρατεῖν ἀνδρὸς εἴωθεν γυνή Men.646, cf. Thphr.CP2.14.4; τῶν πολεμίων Plb.16.30.5: metaph., of pleasure, κ. τοῦ οἴκου Stoic.3.98; also c. acc., τους ἄλλους ἀρετῇ κ.
