[[pluit]] <b class="b2">it rains</b> (from <b class="b2">*plovit</b> < <b class="b2">*plevit</b>; cf. Ernout-Meillet s. v.); with <b class="b3">πλεύσομαι</b> agrees, prob. as parallel innovation, Skt. <b class="b2">ploṣyati</b>. Beside the nom. actionis <b class="b3">πλό(Ϝ)ος</b> stands in Skt. with expected oxytonesis the nom. agentis <b class="b2">plavá-</b> m.; with this identical Russ. [[plov]] [[ship]], [[barge]] and Toch. B [[plewe]] [[ship]] (IE <b class="b2">*plou̯os</b>). Thus <b class="b3">πλοῖον</b> (for <b class="b3">*πλόϜιον</b>) = OWNo. [[fley]] n. [[ship]].
