Schwyzer 448). On the meaning cf. e. g. <b class="b3">ὄνος</b>, <b class="b3">ὀνίσκος</b> [[winch]], Fr. [[chevalet]] [[support]], NHG. [[Esel]], [[Bock]] <b class="b2">id.</b> etc. The suffix may be Pre-Greek; hardly from <b class="b3">βαίνω</b>.
