All forms except <b class="b3">κάλαμος</b>, <b class="b3">-μη</b> can go back to IE. <b class="b2">*ḱolh₂mo-</b>, <b class="b2">ḱolh₂mā-</b>; therefore <b class="b3">κάλαμος</b> has been explained from <b class="b3">*κόλαμος</b> (cf. <b class="b3">ποταμός</b>, <b class="b3">πλόκ-αμος</b>), through assimilation; but note on <b class="b3">-μος</b>, <b class="b3">-μη</b> Porzig Satzinhalte 283f.
