[[clepsī]]; against the <b class="b3">τ-</b>(Jot-)present [[κλέπτω]] Latin and Germanic have a prob. older (Schwyzer 704) thematic root present Lat. [[clepō]] = Goth. [[hlifan]] [[steal]]. An isolated nominal deriv. is perhaps preserved in MIr. [[cluain]] [[deceit]], [[flattery]] < <b class="b2">*klop-ni-</b>.
