[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. < θ. ὀρχησ- του ὀρχοῦμαι «χορεύω», πρβλ. απρμφ. αορ. ὀρχήσ-α-σθαι + επίθημα -τύς (πρβλ. μνησ-τύς). Η λ. ορχηστύς αναφέρεται κυρίως στην τέχνη του χορού και διακρίνεται από το ὄρχησις, που αναφέρεται στην πράξη του χορού].
