Arbēla: ōrum, n., = Ἄρβηλα.
I A town in Adiabene, a province of Assyria, now Arbil. Between this town and Gaugamela, Alexander the Great defeated Darius, Curt. 4, 9; 5, 1; Amm. 23, 6. In Plin. 37, 10, 55, § 149, it designates the region of Arbela.—
II A town in Sicily, Sil. 14, 272, where MSS. also give Arabela.
