The lesser spotted woodpecker (Dryobates minor or Dendrocopos minor or Picus minor) is a member of the woodpecker family Picidae. It was formerly assigned to the genus Dendrocopos (sometimes incorrectly spelt as Dendrocopus). Some taxonomic authorities continue to list the species there.
