Split: P. and V. σχίζειν, τέμνειν, διατέμνειν.

Break: P. and V. ῥηγνύναι (P. generally compounded), καταρρηγνύναι, καταγνύναι, Ar. and V. θραύειν (Plat. but rare P.), V. συνθραύειν.

I have cracked my skull with the blow: τὸ κράνιον παίσας κατέαγα (Eur., Cycl. 683).
