   A clear-sounding, musical, shrill, δόναξ ἀχέτας A.Pr.575 (lyr.); κύκνος E.El.151 (lyr.); epith. of the cicada, chirping, ἠχέτα τέττιξ Hes.Op.582, AP 7.201 (Pamphil.); ἀχέτατ. ib.213 (Arch.): abs., ἀχέτας, ὁ, the chirper, i.e. the male cicada, Anan.5.6, Ar.Pax1159 (lyr.), Av.1095 (lyr.), cf. Arist.HA532b16,556a20: Orph.A.1250 has Ep.acc. ἠχέτα πορθμόν the sounding strait.
