   A of or from a sheep, διφθέραι sheep-skins, Hdt.5.58 ; τυροί SIG1027.13 (Cos): hence ὀέα (q. v.) and οἰίας (with dial. change of -εα- to -ία-) · τῶν προβάτων τὰ σκεπαστήρια δέρματα (leather coats for sheep, brats), Hsch. (Skt. avyáyas, Adj. from ávis = ὄϝις 'sheep'.)

οἴεος: -α, -ον, (οἶς) ὁ ἀνήκων εἰς πρόβατον ἢ ἐκ προβάτου, διφθέρα Ἡρόδ. 5. 58· - ὡσαύτως ὀέα (ἐξυπ. δορά), δέρμα προβάτου, «μηλωτὴ» Ἡσύχ., ὅστις ἔχει καὶ «οἰίας (δηλ. οἰείας)· τῶν προβάτων τὰ σκεπαστήρια δέρματα».
