A tie-beam, τοῖχοι μεγάρων καλαί τε μεσόδμαι Od.19.37, cf. 20.354 (expld. by Aristarch. as = μεσόστυλα, by others as τὰ μεταξὺ τῶν δοκῶν διαστήματα, cf. Hsch.); κρεμάσαι χρὴ τὸν ἄνθρωπον τῶν ποδῶν πρὸς μεσόδμην Hp.Art.70; expld. as τὸ μέγα ξύλον ἀπὸ τοῦ ἑτέρου τοίχου πρὸς τὸν ἕτερον διῆκον Gal. ad Hp.l.c. (18(1).738), cf. IGll. cc., SIG 248 N8 (Delph., iv B.
