   A, (ὄξος) vinegar-cruet, Nicostr.Com.9, Axionic.7, AJA31.351(pl.), PLond.2.402ii24 (ii B. C.); prop. of earthenware, Sch.Ar.Ra.1488 : hence ὀξὶς χαλκῆ γέγονε, instead of being κεραμεᾶ, Ar.Pl.812 ; also ὀξίδ' ἀργυρᾶν ἔχει Sopat.19 ; ὀξὶς ἢ φάλαγξ; (exact sense doubtful) Ar.V.1509.    2 a measure, at Athens the same as ὀξύβαφον, but at Cleonae, = κοτύλη, Id.Fr.688, Diph.96.    II = ὀξαλίς 11, Gal.11.631 (where ὀξύδα).    III in pl., acidities, Alex.
