Be asleep: P. and V. καθεύδειν, εὕδειν (Plat. but rare P., also Ar.), Ar. and P. καταδαρθάνειν; see sleep.

Fall asleep: V. εἰς ὕπνον πίπτειν.

In one's sleep: P. καθʼ ὕπνον, P. and V. ἐν ὕπνῳ, ὄναρ.
