adj. Lawful: P. and V. ἔννομος, νόμιμος. Permitted by divine law: P. and V. ὅσιος. It is permissible: P. and V. θέμις ἐστί (or omit ἐστί) (rare P.), ὅσιον, ἔξεστι, πάρεστι, πάρα, παρείκει, P. ἐγχωρεῖ. Ar. and P. ἐγγίγνεται, ἐκγίγνεται. It is not permissible for you to kill him: V. οὐκ ἔστʼ ἀνυστὸν τόνδε σοὶ κατακτανεῖν (Eur., Heracl. 961).
