Limb from limb: P. κατὰ μέλη. Tear piecemeal: P. and V. σπαράσσειν (Plat.), Ar. and V. διασπᾶσθαι, διασπαράσσειν, V. ἀρταμεῖν, διαρταμεῖν, σπᾶν; see tear. His limbs were tassed piecemeal from the ladder: V. ἐκ δὲ κλιμάκων ἐσφενδονᾶτο χωρὶς ἀλλήλων μέλη (Eur., Phoen. 1182). Met., in detail: P. καθʼ ἕκαστον.
