ῥεῖα δ' ἀρίζηλον μινύθει καὶ ἄδηλον ἀέξει, ῥεῖα δέ τ' ἰθύνει σκολιὸν καὶ ἀγήνορα κάρφει → easily he humbles the proud and raises the obscure, and easily he straightens the crooked and blasts the proud (Hesiod, Works and Days 6-8)

τροπᾱλίς: -ίδος, ἡ, ὡς τὸ δέσμη, δεσμίς, «δεμάτι», σκορόδων τροπαλίδος, δέσμης σκόρδων, Ἀριστοφ. Ἀχ. 813. Φαίνεται ὅτι εἶναι Δωρ. ἀντὶ τρόπηλις, ὅπερ οὕτω τονιζόμενον φέρεται παρ’ Ἀρκαδίῳ 31. 14· ἀλλ’ ὁ Σχολ. γράφει τροπαλλίς, ίδος, καὶ ὁ Ἡσύχ. τριοπηλίς, τριτοπηλίς, «τριοπηλίς· δέσμη σκορόδων», «τριτοπηλίς· σκορόδων δέσμη, ἀπὸ τοῦ πιπιλῆσθαι καὶ συνεστράφθαι».
