Sid. 22)<br />Derivatives: <b class="b3">κολλουρίς</b> <b class="b2">marsh-mallow</b> (Gloss.).<br />Origin: PG [a word of Pre-Greek origin]<br />Etymology: Strömberg Fischnamen 48 proposes: for <b class="b3">*κόλ-ουρος</b> <b class="b2">with stump tail</b> with expressive gemination; after the fish the mallow would have been called as marsh-plant (ibd. 25) [?]. André, RPh 45 (1971) 216f, separates <b class="b3">κολλουρίς</b> from the fish and and connects it with <b class="b3">κολλ(ο)ύρα</b> <b class="b2">small, round flat bread</b> given the similarity of the fruit of the mallow with a cake.
