Since Prellwitz <b class="b3">μῆν-ιγγξ</b> is referred to <b class="b2">*mē</b>[[[m]]]<b class="b2">s-n-</b>, beside which <b class="b3">μηρός</b> < <b class="b2">*mē</b>[[[m]]]<b class="b2">s-r-</b>; the basis would be the word for [[flesh]], IE <b class="b2">*mē</b>[[[m]]]<b class="b2">s-</b> in Skt. <b class="b2">māṃsá-</b>, <b class="b2">mā́s-</b> n. etc. (s. <b class="b3">μηρός</b>). On the meaning cf. some Slav. words for <b class="b2">inner part of the skin, inner, soft skin etc.</b>, e.g. SCr. <b class="b2">mézdra</b>, Sloven. <b class="b2">mę́zdra</b>, beside Russ. <b class="b2">myazdrá</b> <b class="b2">flesh on the inner part of the skin</b>, to OCS <b class="b2">męso</b>, Russ. <b class="b2">mjáso</b> [[flesh]] (= Skt. <b class="b2">māṃsá-</b>; s.
